Library workers represented by IAM Local 4538 at the Baltimore County Public Library have regained their part-time positions after a collective effort. The union emphasized that having a contract provided both protection and a platform for workers to voice concerns.

Through organizing and mutual support, members of IAM Local 4538 were able to secure the reinstatement of jobs that had previously been lost. The union described this outcome as evidence that collective action can help workers defend their employment and secure respect in the workplace.

“This victory is a reminder to working people everywhere: when workers stand together, they can defend their livelihoods, protect their futures, and win the dignity and respect they deserve,” said representatives from IAM Local 4538.

The situation highlights the role of union contracts in offering job security and avenues for advocacy within public institutions like libraries.
