Census Bureau releases 2025 U.S. population estimates by age and sex

The U.S. Census Bureau released on April 9 a downloadable file with estimates of the nation’s resident population by single year of age and sex as of July 1, 2025.

This release provides updated demographic information that is important for policymakers, researchers, and the public to understand trends in the U.S. population.

According to the Census Bureau, additional data will be made available in the coming months. These upcoming releases will include housing unit estimates for the nation, states, and counties, as well as population estimates for cities and towns. There are also plans to publish more detailed breakdowns of population by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin at various geographic levels including metropolitan areas and counties.

Population estimates for Puerto Rico Commonwealth and its municipios by age and sex are also scheduled to be released in future updates.

The Census Bureau noted that there is no news release associated with this product; it was distributed as a tip sheet only.
