IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chairman Reece Murtagh, along with TCU/IAM Vice-President Nick Peluso, visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the passage of the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). The legislation was introduced by Representatives Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio).

Murtagh and Peluso joined legislative staff from both IAM and TCU to express appreciation to the bill’s sponsors and to discuss strategies for advancing the legislation before the next tax season. The proposed bill aims to broaden the current overtime tax exemption so that airline, rail, and other workers exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) would be eligible for overtime tax relief. This change would extend benefits already available to many American workers to additional groups in the transportation sector.

The organizations involved are urging Congress to include railroad and airline workers in overtime tax deduction policies.
