IAM Local 318 leader Joseph Rumrey, who represents Boston-based rail workers at Keolis, recently took part in a leadership training class held at the IAM Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The program brought together about 14 union representatives from across the United States.

The training focused on developing key skills for union leaders, including claims writing and preparation for legal investigations. These abilities are considered essential for protecting union members’ interests.

In addition to individual skill development, the program aligns with broader goals within the rail division. These priorities include advocating for increased funding for commuter rail services and supporting the expansion of high-speed rail infrastructure.

Rumrey discussed his experience in the class and its importance for effective representation of rail workers.
