Delegates from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Wisconsin State Council gathered in Madison for a three-day meeting, according to an April 7 announcement. The event brought together union members from across the state to address regulatory and political challenges affecting collective bargaining.
The conference began with remarks from Gov. Tony Evers, who was joined by local labor leaders as he signed Assembly Bill 651 into law. The legislation, now known as 2025 Wisconsin Act 145, updates the state’s workers’ compensation system.
On the final day of the meeting, IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli spoke about strategic organizing efforts, member education initiatives, and supporting candidates aligned with workers’ interests. “Division is the most effective weapon against working people,” said Cicinelli. “When we stand together across each of the crafts, across industries, across differences, we are powerful. Unstoppable. History proves it.”
Following these discussions, delegates met directly with lawmakers while lobbying at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
The gathering highlighted ongoing efforts by union members to remain engaged in legislative processes and strengthen protections for workers.
