The City of Savannah will temporarily close Louisville Road between Telfair Street and Fair Street starting Monday, Dec. 15, as part of a drainage improvement project in the Dundee Canal Drainage Basin.

According to city officials, this work is an important part of the city’s 100-year conveyance master plan. The project involves installing a double-barrel 3-by-4-foot box culvert to increase drainage capacity and help reduce flooding north of Louisville Road.

The closure is expected to last about 30 days. Residents and drivers are advised to use alternate routes and allow for extra travel time during construction. The city may provide additional updates as the project progresses.
