City of Savannah administrative offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Essential emergency services will continue to operate during the holiday.

Sanitation services will be affected by the closure. Residential garbage, yard waste, and recycling collections scheduled for Monday will not occur that day. These services will resume on Tuesday, January 20, with all routes operating one day later than usual throughout the week. Recycling collection for Tuesday will include the route typically serviced on Monday.

The Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station will also be closed on Monday. The landfill is set to reopen on Tuesday, while the transfer station will reopen Wednesday.

Street sweeping operations are suspended for Monday but are expected to return to their regular schedule starting Tuesday.

Residents are advised to check their annual sanitation schedule packets or visit savannahga.gov/sanitation for specific information about collection days related to their addresses.

All city offices and facilities plan to resume normal business hours on Tuesday, January 20.
