Visit Savannah’s sports sales team represented the Savannah Sports Council at the recent TEAMS Conference & Expo, an event that brings together professionals from across the sports-event industry. The conference, which stands for Travel, Events, and Management in Sports, serves as a major platform for destinations, rights holders, and event organizers to connect and explore opportunities in sports tourism.

Karissa Pendleton, Director of Sports Sales, and Sarah Iocovozzi, Sports Sales Manager, attended more than 80 meetings with sports-rights holders and event planners during the conference. They joined other representatives from Georgia to promote the state’s commitment to expanding its role in sports tourism.

The team highlighted Savannah’s facilities and infrastructure as well as its track record hosting events such as the Allstate SEC Women’s Volleyball Championship, NAIA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships, and the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K.

According to Visit Savannah representatives, their involvement at TEAMS demonstrates Savannah’s position as a leading city for regional and national athletic events. The city is expected to see further growth in the sports tourism sector.
