Savannah Technical College and The Manufacturing Institute’s Heroes MAKE America initiative recently recognized graduates from three SkillBridge training program cohorts at a ceremony held in Fort Stewart, Georgia. This event included the first group to complete the Fast Track Automation & Robotics program, as well as participants from the Fast Track Logistics and Fast Track Airframe & Powerplant Prep (A&P Prep) courses.

The programs are designed to help service members transition from military service into civilian roles by equipping them with technical skills needed in manufacturing and aviation industries. The graduation is seen as an important step for these individuals as they move into careers that meet the workforce needs of the region.

The Fast Track A&P Prep course, which began in April, offers a six-week curriculum focused on preparing participants for FAA Aviation Mechanic certification. Graduates from this program will be entering the job market at a time when companies such as Gulfstream Aerospace are seeking qualified workers in aviation maintenance. Those who completed the Automation & Robotics track are now ready to work in advanced manufacturing environments, while Logistics graduates have gained skills relevant to managing complex supply chains in the local economy.

“These programs are a dynamic response to the evolving demands of American manufacturing,” said Ryan W. Foley, President of Savannah Technical College. “Our partnership with Heroes MAKE America ensures service members and their families have access to cutting-edge training and opens opportunities for these folks right here at home.”

Amy Thomas, National Director of Heroes MAKE America, commented: “The Manufacturing Institute congratulates all the students who will start the New Year with life-changing skills and certifications for in-demand careers. This milestone graduation reflects the strength of our partnership with Savannah Technical College and the potential for transitioning service members to start their second career in manufacturing. We wish them well are excited to welcome them into the manufacturing workforce.”

The training aims not only to teach technical skills but also provide confidence and direction for those moving into civilian professions. By awarding industry-recognized certifications based on military experience, these programs help employers identify candidates who are prepared for immediate employment.

Industry partnerships and donor contributions play a key role in supporting these initiatives, enabling veterans to enter the workforce with practical abilities that benefit regional manufacturers.

Heroes MAKE America operates under The Manufacturing Institute, which is affiliated with the National Association of Manufacturers. The organization connects military personnel with employers through accelerated training programs and career events designed to support hiring strategies within manufacturing sectors.
