The Senate Study Committee on Making Georgia the No. 1 State for Tourism will hold a meeting in Savannah on September 24. The committee, recently established by Lt. Governor Burt Jones, is tasked with finding ways to improve Georgia’s tourism industry and position the state as a leading travel destination.
Senator Drew Echols (R–Gainesville) will serve as chair of the committee. Other members include Senators Sonya Halpern (D–Atlanta), Frank Ginn (R–Danielsville), Russ Goodman (R–Cogdell), and Emanuel Jones (D–Decatur). The group includes both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and will focus on promoting tourism growth throughout Georgia to support jobs, economic development, and community well-being.
Chamber members have been invited to attend the meeting at the Savannah Convention Center’s Governor’s Ballroom at 9:00 A.M. The session will address regional competitiveness and strategies for funding tourism initiatives.
According to organizers, this event offers an opportunity for local business leaders to engage directly with state officials about the future of tourism in Georgia. “It’s a unique opportunity to hear directly from state leaders and ensure the voice of Savannah’s business community is represented in shaping Georgia’s tourism future.”
